Not strictly one of our gigs, but one we are very much supporting. Karin Reid is on a recce up here with a hope of bringing her celebrated New Zealand jazz group to these islands sometime in the near future.
Born down South and hailing from New Zealand, jazz singer Karin is delighted to join Shetland ensemble, Da Mousa Soond Stompers, to present some popular tunes from the Great American Song Book that marks a peerie tribute to Ella Fitzgerald's 100th year!
A regular feature on the Dunedin gig circuit in New Zealand, Reid has performed in many of her own cabaret-theatre productions since 2011, the 2014 Dunedin Arts Festival and the Queenstown Jazz Festival for the last several years. She is considered more recently as Dunedin's top female jazz vocalist but has a long-standing reputation in the performing arts for over twenty years, both as an artist and organiser.
Reid says, "it's my most remote gig to date and a privilege to be able to sing with such a fine bunch of musicians on this wonderful island!" From foot-tapping swing to sultry ballads, come along for a special 'cabaret' evening hosted by the
